Life as President of the GW Student Occupational Therapy Association
I naturally enjoy leading and connecting with others, even when it adds more to my plate. It’s fulfilling to take on those roles while still keeping academics as my main focus.
Our Executive-board meetings focus on planning, logistics, and organizing events, while the all-member meetings bring everyone together to connect classroom learning with professional development. We share updates, recognize students through spotlights, and host engaging activities like games, guest speakers, and workshops such as CV and résumé building. Each session stays centered on occupational therapy, including discussions about new legislation, current news, and emerging issues in the field.
Our two main things are professional development and community service. So, we always have community service opportunities with nonprofits and organizations in the DMV
Inspired by the Location
Washington D.C. offers unique advantages that other places would not necessarily offer. GW’s holistic approach allows students the opportunity to collaborate and engage with individuals and groups from all areas of life.
